At 16, I was spending my summers working full-time at an HVAC company. It didn’t take long for me to realize that the work just didn’t excite me. I wanted something different, something that felt more like mine.

One day, a family friend asked if I could deliver some mulch to her house. I said yes. When I dropped it off, she handed me cash and that moment sparked an idea. I started asking myself, “How can I do more of this?” So I began offering local mulch deliveries, just seeing where it could go.

I didn’t even know what “junk removal” was back then. But while advertising my mulch delivery service, someone reached out and asked if I could haul their old couch to the landfill. I said sure. And just like that, I discovered a whole new lane, one with real demand and even more ways to help people.

From that first couch, the jobs kept coming. What started with mulch became Colin’s Haul’n, a locally owned, student-built junk removal and hauling service rooted in hard work, reliability, and doing things the right way.
